About me

I am a recent graduate of the full time diploma course at Clay College. Over the last two years, I have developed my skills as a maker alongside 13 other wonderfully talented and inspiring potters. We had the benefit of tuition from a vaste range of professional studio potters and tutors who all took their time to demonstrate their making processes and engage with us about our aspirations. My confidence in the ceramic process has grown exponentially technically, creatively and scientifically.

Having worked as a TV journalist for the past eight years, I was drawn to pottery as a refuge from the chaotic environment of the newsroom and the relentlessness of the constantly evolving news cycle. Ceramics became an antidote to the relentless noise of our modern, information-rich world. 

Working in porcelain, I create calm and quiet vessels with a simple elegance. I want the objects I make to be held and appreciated, in a moment of calm in our hurried daily routines. I take careful consideration of each element of my pots as tactility and smoothless is a priority for me. I am inspired by simplicity, clean lines and the contrast in nature of precision and randomness. No two pots I make are ever the same, with subtle differences in form and glaze surface. 

Over the last months at Clay College, I have been developing a celadon glaze which produces crystal growth in a particular reduction firing schedule. I love the contrast between, the precision and control I apply while making each vessel and the unpredictability of the crystals in this glaze, making each pot unique.
